The PhD's History

The PhD Program in Molecular and Regenerative Medicine (MRM) was established in 2006, at a time when molecular and regenerative medicine were becoming increasingly central in biomedical research and represented one of the most innovative and promising areas for the development of new therapies.

Over the years, the PhD program has been periodically evaluated for its cultural and scientific relevance in relation to ongoing technological evolution. While research activities have evolved within the framework of projects conducted in individual laboratories, teaching activities have been revised and updated to maintain alignment with European and national strategic priorities in health. Particular attention has been given to the development of personalized medicine, advanced therapies (gene and cell therapy), digital health, large-scale data analysis through bioinformatics approaches, and the strengthening of technology transfer. The development of the doctoral program is aligned with the main research challenges, in which molecular and regenerative medicine represents one of the most important frontiers, as it enables the transition from a "reparative" approach to a personalized and regenerative one.
