Programme
The course will focus on the description of general epigenetic mechanisms, diseases in which epigenetics play important mechanistic role (hereditary diseases e.g. Rett-syndrome and acquired diseases e.g. AML), animal models which demonstrate the role of epigenetics, and molecular techniques to investigate epigenetic modifications. Purpose: The participants shall obtain in-depth knowledge of epigenetics as basis of human disease and experimental approaches and model to investigate epigenetic modifications
Intended learning outcomes
At the end of the course the participants will be able to:
- Understand epigenetic modifications and its implications in aging and disease
- Discuss advantages and limits of experimental models and approaches
- Critically assess the concept of epigenetic modifications
Teaching and learning activities
Lectures will be integrated by interactive discussion with students. Participants will be also invited to critically evaluate the possible
contribution of epigenetic modification in their research project.
